October Events Wrap-Up

(Pictures will expand)

Maui Winery Wine Over Water Frogtown & Wolf Mtn. Wineries
Sparkling Pineapple wine? Yep. Last month we visited the only winery on the island of Maui--7,000 feet above sea level. Incredible grounds and stunning views. The wines? Well, just call me before you buy any. October 4th we hit Chattanooga's 9th Annual Wine Over Water on the Historic Walnut Street Bridge. The world's longest pedestrian bridge hosted 5 live stage acts, 200 plus wines, and food from a dozen restaurants. Drink, dine & dance your way to the other side of the bridge! Our Tour of the North GA Wine Country was really fun. Good wines, good food, and good company made this informative tour memorable for many first-timers to our own wine country.

Wine & Health

  • Hot Cocoa Beats Red Wine?
Researchers at Cornell University have shown that the popular winter beverage contains more antioxidants per cup than a similar serving of red wine or green tea--twice as many!
  • Bad News for Red Wine
Contrary to earlier studies, a new one suggests drinking a glass or two of red wine a day does not protect you from a heart attack. Researchers at University of Manitoba's Alcohol and Tobacco Research Unit found that personality types were linked to heart disease, and that might influence the choice of alcohol--beer, spirits or wine.
  • Good News for Red Wine
Red wine, long thought to be good for your heart, may also be good for your lungs, says a report soon to be published in the international medical journal Thorax. The research said a compound found naturally in red wine could help fight chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
